Vision West ND Hosts Regional Meetings In Stanley And Powers Lake

Vision West ND will host a regional Housing and Planning & Zoning Workshop on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the Mountrail County South Complex Event Hall in Stanley, ND. The workshop will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Central Time and will bring together community leaders, planning professionals, and housing advocates to explore solutions and strategies to address housing needs and zoning challenges in rural North Dakota.
The workshop will begin with a presentation on housing and zoning best practices from outside the state by Benjamin Horowitz of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Attendees will also hear from regional experts on workforce housing, accessory dwelling units, and local revitalization programs. Topics include USDA incentives, legislative updates, extraterritorial jurisdiction, and the future of infrastructure such as data centers and battery energy storage systems.
Lunch will be provided. The day will conclude with roundtable discussions to encourage dialogue and shared planning approaches among attendees.
Vision West ND continues its commitment to strengthening regional collaboration through events that address critical development issues and promote sustainable growth. Community leaders, planners and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and participate.
Vision West ND will also host its regional consortium meeting on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Powers Lake High School, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Central time.
This meeting will highlight several key focus areas including grocery store grant opportunities, updates on childcare availability and funding, wind energy development in the region, and the Farm to School Program. Attendees will hear from partners and resource providers with the opportunity to bring ideas and tools back to their local communities.
The purpose of the consortium is to lead, educate, and collaborate; ensuring communities are supported and informed. Vision West ND continues to serve as a convener of regional voices, helping local leaders move ideas into action.
The meeting is open to anyone interested in developing priorities to main western North Dakota’s rural sustainability.
Through events like this, Vision Zero West ND supports collaborative planning efforts, fosters partnerships, and helps local leaders identify solutions that create long-term value for their communities.
