New Town City Library Benefits From Annual Car Show
The New Town Chamber Car & Motorcycle Show is a fundraiser; every entry fee paid by vehicle owners or vendors goes directly to the New Town City Library “LEGO League program.” The New Town City Library started its “FIRST LEGO League Challenge” robotics program in 2023. Since then, the funds raised by the car show have been invested into this program, empowering local children with coding, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
In September of 2023, the library expanded by opening the “FIRST LEGO League Explore” program for children ages 6-10. In 2025, the library grew its youth STEM programming even further by adding the “FIRST Tech Challenge” for ages 12-18. The “FIRST Tech Challenge” is much more than LEGO building; students design, build and code their own robots using real tools, hardware, and software.
Through the support and outreach connected to the car and motorcycle show, the library reaches school-aged children from ages 6-18. Each program provides valuable educational opportunities for local youth by offering hands-on learning experiences that engage students in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and critical thinking. If your teen is interested in joining the New Town City Library Robotics Team, registration for the 2026/2027 FIRST Tech Challenge (for ages 12-18) will open in August 2026.
