4-H Achievement Days Held

4-H’ers from around Mountrail County were in Stanley on Monday, July 7, Wednesday, July 9 and Thursday, July 10 for the annual Mountrail County 4-H Achievement Days. These three days gave 4-H’ers a chance to show off their talents with their livestock and static exhibits. It also gives them a chance to get ready to exhibit at the North Dakota State Fair which kicks off this Friday, July 19 in Minot.
Achievement Days events were held in both the Fair Building and the South Complex. The annual Buyer’s Appreciation Picnic was also held at the South Complex Building.
Monday started with the interview judging of static exhibits in the afternoon as wells as the event setup in both buildings. The static exhibits were then set up for display in the evening.
Wednesday started with the arrival of livestock exhibits and the poultry and rabbit show. It also included the goat show and livestock and horse record book judging.
Thursday started right away with the swine show, sheep show and dairy cattle. That was followed by the beef show and the round robin showmanship contest.
The annual Premier Preview Show was a big hit again. This event gives younger kids a chance to see what it is like to show a livestock project. 4-H’ers provide the animals for the youth to show. The Fair Board sponsors medallions for all the youth participation in the Premier Preview Show.
