Wrestlers In Triangular, Tournament Action
The Blue Jay wrestlers were in action last week with a triangular in Velva, facing both the Aggies and the Rugby Panthers. The girls were in action at the Bismarck Rotary Tournament on Friday, Jan. 9 and Saturday, Jan. 10. Varsity boys were in action in Tioga on Saturday, Jan. 10 for the Williams County Tournament.
Velva Triangular
The Blue Jays traveled to Velva for triangular action on Thursday, Jan. 8. The Blue Jay boys posted the 27-14 win over Rugby and dropped their dual against Velva with a score of 17 to 56.
Stanley vs. Rugby
Individual results for the Blue Jays were as follows:
At 107 pounds, Bo Johnson lost on a 15-0 tech fall at 4:46 to Elijah Lafferty.
At 114 pounds, Chase Brown lost in sudden victory overtime with a score of 8 to 5 to Braden Brossart.
At 127 pounds, Louden Haugen won by fall at 1:33 over Noah Stewart.
At 160 pounds, Colter Fladeland won by fall at 1:06 over Ben Hahm.
At 172 pounds, Kane Reep won by forfeit with Rugby open.
At 189 pounds, Asher Batteiger won on a 6-4 decision over Pius Wangler.
At 215 pounds, Coda Fladeland lost by fall at :43 to Bryce Stewart.
At 285 pounds, Levi Uran won by fall at 1:39 over Riley Collins.
Both teams were open at 133 and 139 pounds.

At 160 pounds, Colter Fladeland lost on a 16-1 tech fall at 4:49 to Raider Barstad.
At 172 pounds, Kane Reep lost on an 8-0 major decision to Lexton Smith.
At 189 pounds, Asher Batteiger lost by fall at :17 to Noah Werner.
At 215 pounds, Coda Fladeland lost by fall at :54 to Jayden Foss.
At 285 pounds, Levi Uran lost on a 19-4 tech fall at 3:34 to Cade Okeson.
Bismarck Rotary
The Blue Jay girls were in action at the Bismarck Rotary Tournament on Friday, Jan. 9 and Saturday, Jan. 10. Bismarck Legacy took home the team title with 212.5 points, followed by Bismarck High with 147, Watertown with 142, Dickinson with 116 and Pembina County North rounding out the top five with 109.5. The Blue Jays finished in 35th with 4 team points.

At 112 pounds, Kimber Fritel lost her first round match by fall at 1:43 to Alicia Kenfack of Bismarck Legacy. After a bye in the next round, she came back to win her next match by fall at 1:21 over Emmaria Cullinan of Bismarck Legacy. She lost her next match by fall at :33 to Emma Dutt of Central Cass to end her tournament action.
At 124 pounds, Aubree Bunner lost her first match by fall at 1:20 to Violet Hoyles of Grafton. After a bye in the next round, she lost her next match by fall at 1:59 to Tommi Johnson of Beulah-Hazen to end her tournament action.
At 136 pounds, McKenna Jones had a bye in the first round. She lost her first match by fall at :30 to Kaylee Kurz of Grand Forks and her next match by fall at 3:26 to Lydi Wolf of South Border to end her tournament action.
In the 106 pound JV class, Kandice Belstad placed fifth. She won her first match on a 7-4 decision over Wren Nelson of Williston, but lost her next match on a 7-0 decision to Spencer Brown of Valley City. She came back to win her next match by fall at 2:58 over Jordyn Wilson of Mandan and followed that up with a consolation semifinal win on a 7-2 decision over Molly Danks of Williams County. In the fifth place match, she won by fall at :49 over Breanna Fenster of Bismarck High to take fifth place.
In the 124 pound A JV class, McKenzie Bohrer placed second. She had a bye in the first round and then won her quarterfinal match by fall at 1:14 over Aspyn Sorteberg of Sidney/Fairview. She won her semifinal match by fall at 3:20 over Quinly Bercier of Northern Lights. In the championship match, she lost by fall at 1:21 to Sawyer Wolf of Dickinson to take second place.
In the 124 pound B JV class, Justice Belstad placed sixth. She won her first match in the overtime tie breaker with a score of 13-9 over Alexys De Los Santos of Northern Lights. She lost her quarterfinal match on a 3-0 decision to Gabriella Hendrickson of Breckenridge/Wahpeton. She came back in the next round to win on a 15-0 tech fall at 3:41 over Santana Bercier of Turtle Mountain and followed that up with a consolation semifinal win by fall at 3:55 over Kassidy Folstad of Central Cass. In the fifth place match, she lost on an 8-0 major decision to Linda Yuja of Carrington to place sixth.
In the 130 pounds JV class, Amanda Aguilar placed fifth. After a first round bye, she lost her quarterfinal match by fall at 2:37 to Eleanore Waa of Central Cass. She came back in the next round to win by fall at 3:11 over Piper Roorda of Beulah-Hazen and followed that up with a consolation semifinal win by fall at 1:31 over Leah Pedersen of Devils Lake. In the fifth place match, she won on a 9-5 decision over Aubrie Mcintrye of Jamestown to take fifth.
In the 148 pound JV class, Inaani Wilson placed fourth. She won her first place match by fall at 3:35 over Haileigh Seelye of Dickinson and her quarterfinal match by fall at 1:15 over Andie Trottier of Turtle Mountain. In semifinals, she lost by fall at :27 to Tenley Waldo of Bismarck Legacy. In the third place match, she lost on a 9-3 decision to Nancy Ugboke of Bismarck Legacy to take fourth place.
In the 170 pound JV class, Alyssa Quesada lost her first round match by fall at 2:32 to Brielle Pfremmer of Dickinson. She came back in the next round to win by fall at 2:15 over Amerah Armbrust of Bismarck High. In her final match, she lost by fall at 2:31 to Daniela Boixados of Harvey-Wells County to end her tournament action.
In the 190 pound JV class, Maelyn Yellow Bird placed fourth. After a first round bye, she won her quarterfinal match by fall at 2:19 over Riley Berg of Mandan. In semifinals, she lost by fall at 1:10 to Kiara Charfarous of Bismarck Legacy. In the third place match, she lost on a 12-0 major decision to Shyree Bjornson of Devils Lake to take fourth place.
Williams County Tournament
The Blue Jay boys were in Tioga on Saturday, Jan. 10 for the Williams County Tournament. Williams County was first as a team with 166.5 points, followed by Stanley with 126, Kenmare/Bowbells/Burke Central with 107.5, DLB with 16 and Northern Lights with 14.

At 107 pounds, Bo Johnson placed second. He lost his first round match by fall at 1:13 to Angus Wolla of Williams County. In his next match, he won by fall at 1:36 over Desmond Abrahamson of Northern Lights and followed that up with a win by fall at :56 over Leland Dennis of Williams County to take second.
At 121 pounds, Chase Brown placed first. He won his first round match by fall at 1:10 over Brody Hansen of DLB and followed that up with a win by fall at :33 over Trent Bohrer of Stanley. He won his next match by fall at 1:44 over Carson Placek of Williams County. In his final match, he won by fall at 3:14 over Cam Peterson of KBBC to take first.
At 121 pounds, Trent Bohrer placed fifth. He lost his first round match on an 11-0 major decision to Brody Hansen of DLB and his next match on a 19-3 tech fall at 4:18 to Cam Peterson of KBBC. In the next round, he lost by fall at :33 to Chase Brown of Stanley and then lost his last match by fall at 1:01 to Carson Placek of Williams County to place fifth.
At 139 pounds, Regan Gustafson placed first. He won his first round match by fall at 2:25 over Kaleb Belstad of Stanley and followed that up with a 19-4 tech fall win at 2:52 over Colton Graham of Williams County. He won his third round match by fall at 1:38 over Lleyton Spear of KBBC and followed that up with a win by fall at 2:54 over Grayson Reid of Williams County. In his final match, he won on a 10-6 decision over Carson Brunelle of Williams County to claim first.
At 139 pounds, Kaleb Belstad placed fourth. He lost his first round match by fall at 2:25 to Regan Gustafson of Stanley. He came back to win his next match by fall at 3:10 over Grayson Reid of Williams County. He lost his next match by fall at 5:41 to Carson Brunelle of Williams County and then lost by fall at 3:30 to Lleyton Spear of KBBC. He lost his last match on a 16-14 decision to Colton Graham of Williams County to place fourth.
At 145 pounds, Brayden Fritel placed second. He won his first round match on an 18-0 tech fall at 2:55 over Gage Holte of KBBC and his next match on a 17-1 tech fall at 4:00 over Jamison Nelson of DLB. He followed that up with a win by fall at :50 over Koda Jeanotte. In his final match, he lost on a 13-0 major decision to Levi Jensen of Williams County to take second.
At 152 pounds, Dane Dunham placed third. He lost his first match by fall at 5:51 to Tavin Skalicky of Williams County and his next match by fall at 1:04 to Jeremiah Schmidt to place third.
At 160 pounds, Robert Auer placed fourth. He lost his first round match by fall at 3:18 to Walker Sheldon of Williams County and his second match on an 18-1 tech fall at 4:00 to Colter Fladeland of Stanley. He lost his third match on a 16-0 tech fall to Thatcher Davis of Williams County to place fourth.
At 160 pounds, Colter Fladeland placed second. He won his first round match on a 12-4 major decision over Thatcher Davis of Williams County and his next match on an 18-1 tech fall over Robert Auer of Stanley. In his final match, he lost on a 12-0 major decision to Walker Sheldon of Williams County to take second.
At 189 pounds, Kane Reep placed third. He lost his first round match by fall at 1:19 to Kash Brown of Williams County and his next match by fall at 3:37 to Lincoln Spear of KBBC. He won his final match by fall at 2:48 over Asher Batteiger of Stanley to take third.

At 215 pounds, Coda Fladeland placed second. He won his first round match by fall at 5:31 over Tucker Timm of KBBC, but then lost by fall at 1:09 to Brennin Thuesen of Williams County in the next round. He won his final match by fall at 3:18 over Nolan Andorff of Williams County to place second.
At 285 pounds, Levi Uran placed first. He won his first round match by fall at :35 over Holden McDougall of Northern Lights and his next match by fall at :51 over Judah Allan of DLB. In the next round, he won by fall at :25 over Traesyn Delorme of Northern Lights and followed that up with a win by fall at :57 over Keven Eson of Williams County. In his last match, he won on a 7-1 decision over Delaney Feldman of KBBC to take first.
Up Next: The Blue Jays will host a home dual against Bishop Ryan on Thursday, Jan. 15 starting at 6:30 p.m. On Friday, Jan. 16, the girls will be at the girls mixer at the Williston ARC. Varsity boys will head to Rugby for tournament action on Friday, Jan. 16 and Saturday, Jan. 17. The girls will be at the varsity girls tournament in Hazen on Saturday, Jan. 17. The junior varsity boys state tournament is set for Saturday, Jan. 17 in Carrington.
