Wrestlers In Tournament Action

The Blue Jay wrestlers were in action last weekend with the varsity boys at the Linton Holiday Tournament and the girls at the Border Brawl in Ashley.
The Linton Holiday tournament was held on Friday, Dec. 19 and Saturday, Dec. 20. Velva took home first place with 263 team points, followed by South Border with 200, Faulkton with 198.5, Hettinger with 192 and Kindred rounding out the top five with 187. The Blue Jays finished in twelfth with 83 points.
Individual results for the Blue Jays were as follows:
At 107 pounds, Bo Johnson had a first round bye and then lost his match by fall at :48 to Ivan Moch of Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm. After a bye in the next round, he lost by fall at 1:40 to Arian Faut of Beulah-Hazen to end his tournament action.
At 114 pounds, Chase Brown took sixth place. After two byes, he lost on a 9-3 decision to Nash Nitschke of EEK in quarterfinals. He had a bye in the next round and then won by fall at 5:40 over Jayden Kuntz of Killdeer. In consolation semifinals, he lost on a 1-0 decision to Austin Orminston of Hettinger. In the fifth place match, he lost on a 16-9 decision to Haydn Werner of Velva to take sixth.
At 127 pounds, Louden Haugen had a first round bye and then lost on a 9-6 decision to Easten Baumgartner of Napoleon. After a bye in the next round, he lost by fall at 1:53 to Silas Mark of Bowman County/Beach to end his tournament action.
At 133 pounds, Cohen Bell claimed the title. After a first round bye, he won by fall at :58 over Layton Mrnak of Bowman County/Beach. In quarterfinals, he won on a 17-0 tech fall at 3:32 over Afton Ost of Bishop Ryan. He won his semifinal match on a 16-0 tech fall at 2:53 over Gavin Swenson of Kindred. In the championship match, he won on a 12-1 major decision over Burke Vanderpool of Hettinger to take first place.
At 145 pounds, Brayden Fritel placed ninth. After a first round bye, he won his next match by fall at 3:01 over Marken Cazeau of Faulkton. He lost his quarterfinal match on a 16-1 tech fall at 3:14 to Brextyn Yanish of Velva and his next match on a 10-8 decision to Jaeger Jordheim of Kindred. He came back to win his next match by fall at :29 over Chandler Winterberg of Timber Lake. In the ninth place match, he won by fall at 3:55 over Marken Cazeau of Faulkton to take ninth.
At 160 pounds, Colter Fladeland had a bye in the first round. He lost his next match on a 17-5 major decision to Joseph Keller of South Border. After a bye in the next round, he won his next match by fall at 1:55 over Andre Van Eeden of Lamoure. He lost his next match on a 9-1 major decision to Raider Barstad of Velva and his last match on a 9-0 major decision to Ethan Taszarek of EEK to end his tournament action.
At 172 pounds, Kane Reep placed sixth. After a first round bye, he won his next match by fall at 1:11 to Jack Smith of DLB. In quarterfinals, he lost by fall at 2:00 to Lexton Smith of Velva. He came back in the next round to win by fall at 3:38 over Kellan Otteson of Kindred and followed that up with a win by fall at 2:49 over Haden Thormahlen of Killdeer. In consolation semifinals, he lost on a 7-1 decision to Lucas Weidner of Beulah-Hazen. In the fifth place match, he went three overtimes to lose in the ultimate tiebreaker to Benet Giesler of EEK to take sixth place.
The girls were in action at the Border Brawl in Ashley on Saturday, Dec. 20. Lisbon took home first place as a team with 181.5 points, followed by South Border with 161.5, Bismarck Century with 127, Mandan with 79 and Carrington rounding out the top five with 78.5. Stanley finished tied for eleventh with 32 team points.
In the 106B weight class, Kandice Belstad placed fourth. She won her first round match by fall at :59 over Norah Gillespie of Lisbon and followed that up with a quarterfinal win by fall at 2:27 over Sicily Kula of Bowman County/Beach. She lost her semifinal match by fall at 3:40 to LuLu Loegering of LaMoure LM but came back to win her consolation semifinal by fall at 2:42 over Tesslyn Klaudt of Bismarck. In the third place match, she lost by fall at 5:52 to Sicily Kula of Bowman County/Beach to take fourth.
At 118 pounds, Kimber Fritel placed second. She won her quarterfinal match by fall at :10 over Izzy Hembree-Mueller of Oakes and followed that up with a semifinal win by fall at :59 over Macee McGregor of Webster Area. In the championship match, she lost by fall at 1:19 to Alyssa Nitschke of South Border to place second.
In the 124B weight class, Justice Belstad placed third. She lost her first round match on a 15-5 major decision to McKenzie Bohrer of Stanley. After a bye in the next round, she won by fall at 2:53 over Annabelle Haase of Lisbon and followed that up with a win by fall at :41 over Estella Wentworth of Oakes. In the consolation semifinal, she won by fall  at 1:36 over Ava McKnight of Bismarck. She faced McKenzie Bohrer of Stanley in the third place match, winning by fall at 2:26 to take third.
In the 124B weight class, McKenzie Bohrer placed fourth. She won her first match on a 15-5 major decision over Justice Belstad of Stanley but lost her quarterfinal match by fall at :48 to Paige Goebel of South Border. After a bye in the next round, she won by fall at 1:51 over Isabella Weathersby of Williams County and followed that up with a consolation semifinal win by fall at 3:46 over Ahava Kerr of Bowman County/Beach. In the third place match, she lost by fall at 2:26 to Justice Belstad of Stanley to take fourth.
In the 130B weight class, Amanda Aguilar placed fourth. She lost her first round match on an 11-4 decision to Lexxus Lowman of Bowman County/Beach and her next match by fall at 1:46 to Janai Roldan of Williams County. She came back to win her next match by fall at 5:17 over Lola Brewer of Carrington, before losing the next match by fall at 4:45 to Alyvia Hasbrouck of Hettinger/Scranton. She won her last match by fall at :22 over Presley Johnson of Lisbon to take fourth place.
At 136 pounds, Aubree Bunner placed fourth. After a bye in the first round, she won her quarterfinal match by fall at 1:53 over Lyla Gillespie of Lisbon. In semifinals, she lost by fall at 3:41 to Dora Bonen of Mobridge-Pollock. She won her consolation semifinal on a 15-0 tech fall at 4:20 over Gabriella Huffaker of Bismarck Century. In the third place match, she lost by fall at 1:23 to Lyla Gillespie of Lisbon to take fourth.
At 136 pounds, McKenna Jones placed fifth. After a first round bye, she won her quarterfinal match by fall at :47 over Gabriella Huffaker of Bismarck Century. In semifinals, she lost by fall at 3:59 to Joclyne Rumpca of Webster Area and lost her consolation semifinal by fall at 5:23 to Lyla Gillespie of Lisbon. In the fifth place match, she won on an 11-2 major decision over Gabriella Huffaker of Bismarck Century to take fifth.
In the 148B weight class, Inaani Wilson placed first. She won her first match by fall at 1:11 over Shae McLean of Bismarck and followed that up with a 16-0 tech fall win at 3:25 over Meadow Meyer of Williams County. She won her last match by fall at 3:04 over Lexi Dill of Oakes to take first.
In the 155B weight class, JayVuani White Eagle placed fifth. She lost her first round match by fall at :59 to Adriana Turner of Bismarck and her next match by fall at 4:37 to Micki Tiedemann of Hettinger/Scranton. She lost her third round match by fall at 3:23 to Elizabeth Sott of Hettinger/Scranton and her last match by fall at 2:45 to Kynslee Steckler of Linton HMB to take fifth.
In the 190B weight class, Alyssa Quesada placed third. She won her first match by fall at :56 over Kylah Goulet of Lisbon and followed that up with a win by fall at 2:13 over Amerah Armbrust of Bismarck. She lost her third match by fall at 1:13 to Autumn Hoffman of South Border and her last match by fall at 1:02 to Nevaeh Whiteshield of Stanley to take third.
In the 190B weight class, Nevaeh Whiteshield placed first. She won her first match by fall at :23 over Amerah Armbrust of Bismarck and followed that up with a win by fall at 3:36 over Kylah Goulet of Lisbon. She won her third match by fall at 5:11 over Autumn Hoffman of South Border and her final match by fall at 1:02 over Alyssa Quesada of Stanley to take home first.
