Wrestlers In Action In Duals And Tournaments

The Blue Jay wrestlers had a busy week with their first action on Thursday, Dec. 11 when they faced off in duals with Williams County. The boys’ wrestlers were in Kenmare on Friday, Dec. 12 and the girls were in Carrington on Friday, Dec. 12. Stanley also hosted their annual junior high/junior varsity tournament on Saturday, Dec. 13.
Stanley vs. Williams County
Both the boys and girls wrestlers faced off with Williams County on Thursday, Dec. 11. On the boys’ side, Williams County claimed the 45 to 23 win, while score totals were not available for the girls.
Individual results for the boys were as follows:
At 107 pounds, Angus Wolla of Williams County won by forfeit with Stanley open.
At 114 pounds, Chase Brown won on a 17-1 tech fall at 5:28 over Carson Placek.
At 121 pounds, Trent Bohrer lost by fall at :34 to Tristian Miller.
At 127 pounds, Louden Haugen won on a 6-3 decision over James Jespersen.
At 133 pounds, Cohen Bell won by fall at 2:47 over McCoy Jorstad.
At 139 pounds, Carson Brunelle of Williams County won by forfeit with Stanley open.
At 145 pounds, Brayden Fritel lost on a 7-5 decision to Levi Jensen.
At 152 pounds, Dane Dunham lost by fall at :54 to Jeremiah Schmidt.
At 160 pounds, Anthony Nardacci lost by fall at 1:40 to Tavin Skalicky.
At 172 pounds, Colter Fladeland lost by fall at 1:49 to Kash Brown.
At 189 pounds, Kane Reep won on a 12-5 decision over Walker Sheldon.
At 215 pounds, Asher Batteiger lost by fall at :46 to Brennin Thuesen.
At 285 pounds, Coda Fladeland won by fall at 3:54 over Keven Eson.

At 100 pounds, Emi Taylor won by fall at :39 over Jemma Matthews.
At 112 pounds, River DeTienne won on a 9-4 decision over Molly Danks.
At 112 pounds, Emi Taylor lost by fall at 3:19 to Hazel Brannin.
At 112 pounds, Kimber Fritel won by fall at 1:13 over Molly Danks.
At 124 pounds, McKenzie Bohrer won by fall at 2:53 over Isabella Weathersby.
At 124 pounds, Amanda Aguilar lost by fall at 3:34 to Janai Roldan.
At 124 pounds, Justice Belstad won by fall at 5:52 over Janai Roldan.
At 130 pounds, Aubree Bunner lost on a 5-0 decision to Annalesia Bishop.
At 148 pounds, JayVauni White Eagle lost by fall at 2:13 to Meadow Meyer.
At 155 pounds, Inaani Wilson lost by fall at 1:14 to Kaylie Clingman.
At 170 pounds, Maelyn Yellow Bird lost by fall at 1:26 to Lilli Bloom.
At 170 pounds, Nevaeh Whiteshield lost by fall at 5:01 to Jazmine Lindberg.
At 170 pounds, Alyssa Quesada lost by fall at 1:00 to Sara Taylor.
At 190 pounds, Annabelle Penaflor won by fall at :46 over McKayla Farris.
Kenmare Tournament
The varsity boys’ wrestlers were in action at the Kenmare Tournament on Friday, Dec. 12. Williams County was first as a team with a total of 196.5 points, followed by Kenmare/Bowbells/Burke Central with 133.5, Stanley with 130.5, DesLacs/Burlington with 122.0 and Northern Lights rounding out the top five with 70.
Individual results for the Blue Jays were as follows:
At 121 pounds, Bo Johnson had a bye in the first round. He lost his quarterfinal match by fall at :34 to Cam Peterson of KBBC. After a bye in the next round, he lost by fall at 2:44 to Trent Bohrer of Stanley to end his tournament action.
At 121 pounds, Chase Brown placed second. After a first round bye, he won his quarterfinal match by fall at 1:28 over Carson Placek of Williams County. He followed that up with a semifinal win on a 6-2 decision over Braden Brossart of Rugby. In the championship match, he lost by fall at 4:51 to Wyatt Schaff of DLB to take second place.
At 121 pounds, Trent Bohrer placed fifth. After a first round bye, he lost his quarterfinal match to Wyatt Schaff of DLB by fall at :56. He had a bye in the next round and then won his next match by fall at 2:44 over Bo Johnson of Stanley. In the consolation semifinals, he lost on a 17-2 tech fall at 1:50 to Braden Brossart of Rugby. In the fifth place match, he won by fall at 1:21 over Carson Placek of Williams County to take fifth.
At 127 pounds, Louden Haugen placed second. After a first round bye, he won his quarterfinal match on a 19-2 tech fall at 2:50 over Jonathan Hernandez of KBBC. He won his semifinal match on an 8-5 decision over Connor Melin of KBBC. In the championship match, he lost on a 12-2 major decision to Tristian Miller of Williams County to take second place.
At 133 pounds, Cohen Bell took home first place. After a first round bye, he won his quarterfinal by fall at 1:17 over Eric Mahle of Rugby. In semifinals, he won on a 19-2 tech fall at 1:56 over Lane Anderson of Williston. In the championship match, he won on  an injury default over Paul Melin of KBBC.
At 139 pounds, Kaleb Belstad had a bye in his first round, but lost his quarterfinal match by fall at 3:34 to William Leppell of Velva. After a bye, he lost his next match by fall at 3:27 to Colton Graham of Williams County to end his tournament action.
At 145 pounds, Brayden Fritel placed fourth. After a first round bye, he won his quarterfinal match on a 16-0 tech fall at 5:59 over Austin Davis of KBBC. He lost his semifinal match by fall at 3:20 to Carson Brunelle of Williams County, but came back to win his consolation semifinal on a 20-5 tech fall at 3:34 over Anthony Nardacci of Stanley. In the third place match, he lost on a 14-11 decision to Easton Hansen of DLB to take fourth place.
At 145 pounds, Anthony Nardacci placed fifth. After a first round bye, he lost his quarterfinal match by fall at 1:07 to Levi Jensen of Williams County. He had a bye in the next two rounds, and then lost his consolation semifinal by a 20-5 tech fall at 3:34 to Brayden Fritel of Stanley. In the fifth place match, he won by medical forfeit over Gage Holter of KBBC to take fifth.
At 152 pounds, Dane Dunham placed third. He lost his first round match by fall at 5:21 to Kingston Brunelle of White Shield. In his next match he won on a 17-0 tech fall at 4:33 over Koda Jeanotte of Northern Lights. He won his next match by injury default at 1:35 over Jeremiah Schmidt of Williams County. He lost his last match by medical forfeit to Thosten Lidstrom of Stanley to take third.
At 152 pounds, Thosten Lidstrom placed fifth. He lost his first round match to Koda Jeanotte of Northern Lights by fall at 1:18 and his next match by fall at :57 to Kingston Brunelle of White Shield. He lost his third match by fall at :58 to Jeremiah Schmidt of Williams County and then won his last match by medical forfeit over Dane Dunham of Stanley to take fifth.
At 172 pounds, Kane Reep placed second. He won his first round match by fall at 5:09 over Gavin Davidson of Williams County. In quarterfinals, he won by fall at 3:27 over Jasper Loran of Northern Lights and followed that up with a semifinal win by fall at 5:33 over Triden Thull of Williams County. In the championship match, he lost on a 6-0 decision to Walker Sheldon of Williams County to take second.
At 189 pounds, Colter Fladeland placed sixth. After a first round bye, he won his quarterfinal match on a 10-2 major decision over Pius Wangler of Rugby. In semifinals he lost by fall at 1:59 to Brennin Thuesen of Williams County. He lost his consolation semifinal on an 11-2 major decision to Alexander Sola of Velva and then medical forfeited his fifth place match to Pius Wangler of Rugby to take sixth.
At 215 pounds, Asher Batteiger placed second. He won his first round match by fall at 2:33 over Nolan Adorff of Williams County and lost his second match by fall at 2:39 to Johnathan Smith of DLB to take second.
At 285 pounds, Coda Fladeland placed fourth. After a first round bye, he lost his quarterfinal match on a 7-1 decision to Bryce Stewart of Rugby. After a bye in the next round, he came back to win by fall at 1:48 over Traesyn Delorme of Northern Lights and followed that up with a consolation semifinal win by fall at :40 over Keven Eson of Williams County. In the third place match, he lost on a 7-0 decision to Bryce Stewart of Rugby to take fourth.
At the 285B class, Trey Smith placed second. He won his first round match by 1:42 over Holden McDougall of Northern Lights then lost his next match by fall at :33 to Jameson Kalliokoski of Velva to take second.
Al Larson Tournament
The girls’ wrestlers were in Carrington on Friday, Dec. 12 for the Al Larson Tournament. Bismarck Legacy took home first place with 158.5 team points, followed by Minot with 157.5, Lisbon with 130, Pembina County North with 111 and Valley City rounding out the top five with 105. The Blue Jays finished eighteenth with 33 team points.

At 106 pounds, Kandice Belstad lost her first match by fall at 1:46 to Ella Brown of Minot and her next match by fall at 1:50 to Vada Hoffman of South Border to end her tournament action.
At 118 pounds, Kimber Fritel lost her first match by fall at :50 to Khylie Schlotz of Minot. She came back in the next round to win by fall at :44 over Addi Mack of Rugby and followed that up with a win by fall at 2:32 over Tess Gross of Legacy. In consolation semifinals, she lost by fall at 3:39 to Bethani Schuldheisz of Valley City to end her tournament action.
In the 118 JV class, River DeTienne placed second. She won her first round match by fall at 2:58 over Jayda Hanson of Minot and followed that up with a win by fall at :57 over Macy Wieler of West Fargo United. She won her semifinal match by fall at 2:59 over Kenleigh Davis of Legacy. In the championship match, she lost by fall at 1:56 to Fatimazahra Elbouab of Minot to take second.
At 130 pounds, Justice Belstad lost her first match by fall at 1:07 to Keira Kozojed of Hillsboro CV and her next match by fall at 1:11 to Kenzie Jost of Carrington to end her tournament action.
At 136 pounds, Aubree Bunner placed fifth. She lost her first round match by fall at :55 to Aleiya Cullinan of Legacy, but came back to win her next match by fall at 3:26 over Madeline Eris-Hanson of Fargo. She followed that up with a win by fall at 3:05 over Leah Dahle of Devils Lake and a consolation semifinal win by fall at 1:54 over Laken Kapaun of Central Cass. In the fifth place match, she won by fall at :55 over Chloe Bartz of Harvey-Wells County to take fifth.
At 142 pounds, Natalia Rodriguez lost her first round match by fall at :51 to Emersyn Schwab of Lisbon and her next match by fall at :53 to Chanelle Volk of South Border to end her tournament action.
At 155 pounds, Inaani Wilson lost her first round match on a 17-1 tech fall at 2:57 to Brynlee Hartsoch of West Fargo United and her next match by fall at 1:48 to Ella Tuff of Fargo to end her tournament action.
In the 155JV class, JayVauni White Eagle placed sixth. After a first  round bye, she lost her quarterfinal match by fall at :12 to Tenley Waldo of Legacy. After a bye in the next round, she won her consolation semifinal by fall at 1:57 over Sakura Thorn of Larimore. In the fifth place match, she lost by fall at 2:34 to Nancy Ugboke of Legacy to take sixth.
At 190 pounds, Alyssa Quesada placed sixth. After a first round bye, she lost her quarterfinal match by fall at :38 to Lauryn Alexander of Jamestown. She had a bye in the next two rounds. In the fifth place match, she lost by fall at 1:46 to Angelique Delong of Northern Lights to take sixth.
At 190 pounds, Maelyn Yellow Bird had a first round bye and then lost her quarterfinal match by fall at :10 to Jade’ence Fletcher of Minot. After a bye in the next round, she lost her consolation semifinal by fall at 2:51 to Angelique Delong of Northern Lights to end her tournament action.
In the 190JV class, Nevaeh Whiteshield lost her first round match by fall at :13 to Hannah Garza of Devils Lake, but came back to win her next round by fall at 5:07 over Aubrey Haack of Beulah-Hazen. She lost her next match by fall at 2:48 to Autumn Hoffman of South Border. In the fourth round, she won on an 8-7 decision over Shyree Bjornson of Devils Lake and her final round by fall at 1:00 over Braya Monley of Minot to take home fourth.
Stanley JV/JH Tournament
Stanley hosted their annual Tina Meiers Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 13. This tournament featured sixth grade, junior high and junior varsity wrestlers. Team scores were not listed.
In the sixth grade 79-85 class, Slade Stout placed third. He lost his first match on an 11-4 decision to Chandler Mantz of Minot MS and his next match to Liam Austin of Minot MS on a 10-0 major decision to place third.
In the sixth grade 100-102 class, Emi Taylor placed first. She won her first round match by fall at 1:34 over Collynz Hern of Minot MS and followed that up with a win by fall at 3:19 over William Batteiger of Minot MS. In her final match, she won by fall at 1:55 over Landin Colich of DLB to take first.
In the sixth grade 120-130 class, Brant Sorensen placed first. He won his first round match by fall at 1:44 over Nikki Bennefield of Minot MS and followed that up with a win by fall at 1:41 over Bode Long of Velva. He won his next match by fall at :37 over Tucker Hough of Williams County and his last match by fall at 1:59 over Lucas McClune of Minot MS to take first.
In the sixth grade 140-155 class, Annabelle Penaflor placed second. She lost her first round match by fall at 1:52 to Eyston Racine of Minot MS, but came back to win her next match by fall at 2:57 over Ethan Scott of Minot MS. She won her last match by fall at 2:48 over Aubrey Peschges of Minot MS to take second.
In the junior high 119-121 class, Trent Bohrer placed third. He lost his first round match by fall at 2:37 over Levi Blake of Minot MS, but came back to win his next match by fall at 3:22 over Gavin Schmaltz of Velva. He lost his last match on a 14-13 decision to Xavier Turner of Minot MS to take third.
In the junior high 138-144 class, Kaleb Belstad placed second. He lost his first round match on a 16-8 major decision to Noah Neiss of Minot MS. He came back to win his next match on an injury default at 1:00 over Quinn Fox of Minot MS and his last match by fall at 1:42 over Rogan Mogren of KBBC to take second.
In the junior high 140-146 class, Anthony Nardacci placed second. He lost his first round match on a 13-12 decision to Ryan Ozuna of Minot MS. He won his next match on a 13-4 major decision over Terrin Azure of Northern Lights and his last match by fall at 3:14 over Colin Hotz of Minot MS to take second.
In the junior high 158-172 class, Briggs Lund placed second. He lost his first round match by fall at 2:56 to Russell Hokenson of Minot MS. In the next round, he won by fall at 1:51 over Colton Moon of Minot MS and his next match by fall at 5:38 over Blaike Larsen-Kelly of Willams County to take second.
In the junior high 220-246 class, Trey Smith placed second. He won his first match by fall at 2:23 over William Szczur of DLB and then lost his second match by fall at 1:16 to Opetaia Donaldson of Minot to take second.
In the junior varsity 114 pound class, Bo Johnson placed fifth. He lost his first match by fall at :54 to Ashton Triebull of Williston, his next match by fall at 1:07 to Luke Vanwhy of Williston and his third match by fall at :29 to Jamison Didier of Williston. In his last match, he lost on a 21-5 tech fall to Chase Brown of Stanley to take fifth.
In the junior varsity 114 pound class, Chase Brown placed first. He won his first match on a 15-7 major decision over Jamison Didier of Williston. He followed that up with a win by fall at 5:09 over Luke Vanwhy of  Williston and an 8-3 decision win over Ashton Triebull of Williston. He won his final match on a 21-5 tech fall over Bo Johnson of Stanley to take first.
In the junior varsity 152 pound class, Thosten Lidstrom placed fifth. He lost his first match by fall at 1:30 to Jamison Nelson of DLB and his next match by fall at 1:38 to Pierce Jacobs of Williston. He then medical forfeited his next two matches to Koda Jeanotte of Northern Lights and Jackson Davis of Williston to place fifth.
In the junior varsity 189 pound class, Asher Batteiger placed second. He lost his first round match on a 16-8 major decision to Paxton Ross of Williston. He won his next match on a 6-4 decision over Eli Ward of Williston and his last match on a medical forfeit over Payton De Los Santos of Northern Lights to take second.
In the junior varsity 215 pound class, Coda Fladeland placed second. He won his first round match by fall at 2:57 over Nolan Andorff of Williams County and followed that up with a 9-3 decision win over Jameson Kalliokoski of Velva. He lost his last match by fall at 3:16 to Blaytten O’Leary of Williston to take second.
Up Next: The varsity boys will wrestle in the Linton Tournament on Friday, Dec. 19 and Saturday, Dec. 20. The girls will head to the Border Brawl in Ashley on Saturday, Dec. 20. Junior high and sixth grade boys will be at a tournament in Minot on Saturday, Dec. 20. This will be the last action until after the Christmas break.
