Wrestlers Host Duals, In Tourney Action

Stanley’s varsity wrestlers hosted Kenmare/Bowbells/Burke Central in dual action for both the boys and the girls on Tuesday, Jan. 20. The boys were in tournament action in Killdeer on Saturday, Jan. 24, while the girls were in tournament action in Rugby.
Stanley vs. KBBC
The Blue Jays hosted their last dual of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 20 with both boys and girls duals against Kenmare/Bowbells/Burke Central.
The girls dropped their dual with a score of 9 to 20. Individual results for the Blue Jays were as follows:
At 106 pounds, Kandice Belstad lost on a 6-5 decision to Addi Peterson.
At 118 pounds, Kimber Fritel lost by fall at 3:56 to Taley Michel.
At 124 pounds, McKenzie Bohrer won by fall at :59 over Shae Jensen.
At 130 pounds, Aubree Bunner lost by fall at :43 to Tenley Michel.
At 136 pounds, McKenna Jones won on a 7-2 decision over Arianna Martinez.
At 142 pounds, Natalia Rodriguez lost on a 20-5 tech fall to Amaya Baptiste at 2:16.
Both teams were open at 100, 112, 148, 155, 170, 190 and 250 pounds.
The boys claimed their dual with a score of 57 to 13. Individual results for the Blue Jays were as follows:
At 107 pounds, Bo Johnson won by fall at 3:21 over Isaac Gonzalez.
At 114 pounds, Chase Brown won by fall at 1:29 over Gavyn Barbot.
At 121 pounds, Trent Bohrer lost on a 19-3 tech fall at 2:18 to Connor Melin.
At 127 pounds, Louden Haugen won by fall at 1:13 over Jonathan Hernandez.
At 133 pounds, Cohen Bell won by fall at 1:48 over Briggs Mogren.
At 137 pounds, Regan Gustafson won by fall at 1:55 over Lleyton Spear.
At 145 pounds, Brayden Fritel won by forfeit with KBBC open.
At 152 pounds, Dane Dunham won by forfeit with KBBC open.
At 160 pounds, Colter Fladeland won by forfeit with KBBC open.
At 172 pounds, Kane Reep lost on a 7-1 decision to Lincoln Spear.
At 189 pounds, Torstyn Fimbres won by fall at :23 over Tucker Patterson.
At 215 pounds, Jake Germundson lost on a 15-0 tech fall at 4:08 to Tucker Timm.
At 285 pounds Levi Uran won on a 7-1 decision over Delaney Feldman.
Panther Booster Tourney
The Blue Jay girls were in action at the Panther Booster Girls Tourney in Rugby on Saturday, Jan. 24. Turtle Mountain Community High School took home the team title with 196.5 points, followed by Minot with 194.5, Bismarck Century with 149, Bismarck Legacy with 119 and Williston rounding out the top five with 109. Stanley finished in 19th with 19 team points.
Individual results for the Blue Jays were as follows:
At 124 pound, Justice Belstad lost her first round match by fall at 2:21 to Madisyn Racine of Minot. After a bye in the next round, she lost her next match by fall at 4:27 to Aubree Bunner of Stanley to end her tournament action.
At 124 pounds, McKenzie Bohrer won her first round match by fall at 2:17 over Sitota Asmamaw of Minot. She lost her next match by fall at 1:30 to Jalyn Carignan of Pembina County North, but came back to win by fall at 3:01 over Keira Kozojed of Hillsboro/CV. In her next match, she lost by fall at 3:58 to Aaliya Laboy of Minot to end her tournament action.
At 124 pounds, Aubree Bunner had a bye in the first round and then lost her next match by fall at :56 to Kashtyn Bredahl of DLB. She came back to win her next match by fall at 4:27 over Justice Belstad of Stanley and followed that up with a win by fall at 1:05 over Ari Brunelle of Northern Lights. In the next round, she lost by fall at 3:23 to Kaytilane Isom of Williston to end her tournament action.
At 148 pounds, Inaani Wilson placed fifth. After a first round bye, she lost her quarterfinal match by fall at 1:27 to Opal Hackel of Rugby. She had a bye in the next round, and then won by fall at :39 over JayVuani White Eagle of Stanley in the following round. In consolation semifinals, she lost by fall at 1:37 to Kenley Hamley of Turtle Mountain Community High School. In the fifth place match, she won by fall at :19 over Kyra Thompson of Williston to take fifth place.
At 148 pounds, JayVuani White Eagle placed seventh. She had a first round bye, but then lost her quarterfinal match by fall at :24 to Maycee Boyce of Minot. After a bye, she lost her match to Inaani Wilson of Stanley by fall at :39. She won her seventh place match with a bye in that round.
At 170 pounds, Nevaeh Whiteshield lost her first round match by fall at 3:37 to Aleah Martin of Turtle Mountain and her next match by fall at 5:28 to Ella Clooten of Devils Lake to end her tournament action.
At 170 pounds, Maelyn Yellow Bird lost her first round match by fall at 3:40 to Emory Williams of KBBC. After a bye in the next round, she lost by fall at :59 to Aleah Martin of Turtle Mountain to end her tournament action.
Badlands Classic
The Blue Jay boys were in Killdeer on Saturday, Jan. 24 for the Badlands Classic. Dickinson took home first place as a team with 228 points, followed by Velva with 197.5, Minot with 181, South Border with 166 and Bowman County/Beach with 165.5 rounding out the top five. The Blue Jays were sixth with 124 team points.
Individual results for the Blue Jays were as follows.
At 114 pounds, Chase Brown took fifth. He had byes in the first two rounds, and then lost his quarterfinal match on a 17-0 tech fall at 5:04 to Blake Goebel of South Border. He came back to win his next match on a 16-0 tech fall at 5:48 over Brandt Haas of New Salem-Almont and his next match on a 10-3 decision over Gunner Fricke of New Salem-Almont. In the consolation semifinal, he lost by fall at 4:49 to Alex Leier of Velva. In the fifth place match, he won on a medical forfeit over Blake Goebel of South Border.
At 127 pounds, Louden Haugen placed second. He had a bye in the first round and then won by fall at 1:38 over Anson Risty of Harding County. In quarterfinals, he won on a 20-2 tech fall at 4:00 over Easton Barstad of Velva and followed that up with a 13-2 major decision win over Thomas Bender of South Border. In the first place match, he lost on a 10-4 decision to Josh Ternes of Beulah-Hazen to take second.
At 133 pounds, Cohen Bell took second. After a first round bye, he won his next match on a 20-1 tech fall over Jaxson Schumann of Minot. In quarterfinals, he won by fall at 1:40 over Bryson Thomasson of Beulah-Hazen. He won his semifinal match on an 8-2 decision over Corban Sorenson of Watford City. In the championship match, he lost on a 2-1 decision in the tie breaker overtime to take second.
At 139 pounds, Regan Gustafson placed sixth. He had a bye in the first round and then won his next match by fall at :57 over Atticus Tritschler of Jamestown. In quarterfinals, he won by fall at 2:15 over Broderyk Mohl of Beulah-Hazen. He medically forfeited his semifinal match to Cutter Ouradnik of Bowman County/Beach, consolation semifinal to Bryant Kern of Dickinson and his fifth place match to Broderyk Mohl of Beulah-Hazen to place sixth.
At 145 pounds, Brayden Fritel placed fourth. He had a bye in the first two rounds and then lost his quarterfinal match on a 16-1 tech fall at 5:10 to Holden Kopari of Dickinson. He came back in the next round to win by fall at 5:36 over Briggs Caudle of Dickinson and won his next match on a 10-9 decision over Vincent Martinez of Minot. In consolation semifinals, he won by fall at 1:05 over Jace Vroman of Harding County. In the third place match, he lost on a 17-2 tech fall at 4:12 to Holden Kopari of Dickinson to take fourth.
At 152 pounds, Dane Dunham had a bye in the first round. He won his next match by fall at 1:03 over Billy Schmidt of Killdeer. In quarterfinals, he lost on a 15-0 tech fall at 2:50 to Breyden Buee of DLB and then lost by fall at 5:48 to Isaiah Dobbs of Bowman County/Beach to end his tournament action.
At 160 pounds, Colter Fladeland had a bye in the first two rounds. In quarterfinals, he lost on a 7-3 decision to Joseph Keller of South Border. He came back in the next round to win on a 17-1 tech fall at 2:46 over Jacob Jaggi of Killdeer, but lost the next round on a 2-1 overtime tiebreaker to Trevor Dalley of Bowman County/Beach to end his tournament action.
At 172 pounds, Kane Reep placed fourth. After a bye in the first two rounds, he won his quarterfinal match on a 7-5 decision over Haden Thormahlen of Killdeer. In semifinals, he lost by fall at 2:27 to Sawyer Noll of Bowman County/Beach. He came back in the consolation semifinals to win on a 17-0 tech fall at 4:08 over Bryson Schiele of Velva. In the third place match, he lost by fall at 3:13 to Zane Wagoner of Watford City to take fourth.
At 189 pounds, Asher Batteiger had a bye in the first round. He won his next match on a 17-0 tech fall at 5:51 over Genesis Wiredu of Watford City. In quarterfinals, he lost by fall at 2:37 to Cole Nitschke of South Border and then lost by fall at 5:39 in his next match to Jaxsen Morris of Jamestown to end his tournament action.
At 285 pounds, Levi Uran had a bye in the first round. He won his next match by fall at :19 over Walker Dingfelder of Harding County before losing his semifinal match by fall at 2:19 to Anthony Hallett of Beulah-Hazen. He came back to win his next match by fall at :09 over Talan Dell of Plentywood, but lost his next match on a 15-7 major decision to Jacob Britton of Dickinson to end his tournament action.
