White Earth Rodeo Held

The 68th annual rodeo returned to the White Earth Valley last weekend as the White Earth Valley Saddle Club held their rodeo from June 6 through 8.
Events started on Friday, June 6 with the 18th Annual Queen Pageant.
Ziva Ottesen was crowned the new Miss Rodeo with Kelsee Ottesen and Allison Koble also competing.
Skylar Fetzer was crowned the Junior Miss Rodeo with Ashlyn Woodbury, Kaylee Johnson, MaKoti Hartsoch, Tylada Nichols, Khloe Hanson and Lovey Hanson also competing.
The Sweetheart contestants were Kimberly Otero, Serenity Sipols and Lela Moody.
There was also Mutton Bustin’, and a Barrel and Pole Jackpot on Friday evening.
Saturday started with slack in the afternoon and a rodeo performance in the evening. Sunday started in the morning with slack, followed by Cowboy Church and the afternoon performance.
This year saw the return of the Women’s Ranch Bronc Rodeo competition as well.
As the performances began, a rider accompanied by a horse with an empty saddle paid tribute to those members of the WEVSC that passed in the past year. They honored Joetta Iverson, Bernice Feiring, Wayne Vance, Joe Breckey and Patty Hysjulien Sneva.
This year’s royalty were part of the opening that included the cowboy’s prayer and the National Anthem before the contestants took to the arena.
As always, performances were followed by the Almost Famous Shovel Race and Calf Scramble.
2025 upcoming events at the WEVSC include the Draft Horse Challenge on June 28, a barrel and pole jackpot series, the fall trail ride, the fall draft horse challenge on October 4, fall turkey bingo and the Frigid Fundays series.
