Volleyball Team Wins Two, Takes Third At Glenburn

It was a busy week for Blue Jay volleyball. On Tuesday, Sept. 9, they were on the road in Ray, winning in a hard-fought five set match. They hosted Berthold on Thursday, Sept. 11, winning the match in straight sets. They were at the Glenburn Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 13, coming home with third place.
Stanley vs. Ray
In the first match of the week, Stanley was in Ray on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Stanley won the first two sets with scores of 25-20 and 25-17, but Ray came back to claim the next two with scores of 25-17 and 25-13. The fifth and deciding set went to extra points with the Blue Jays coming out on top with a score of 16 to 14 to take home the victory.
Tylie Johnson led the team with 17 assists, followed by Maycee Copeland with 8.
Dani Hermanson had 6 kills, followed by Brenna Wenger and Maycee Copeland with 5 each, Annie Roise with 4, Taya Niemitalo and Khloe Jemtrud with 3 each, and Karley Jemtrud with 2.

McKenna Jones had 20 digs, followed by Dani Hermanson with 16, Khloe Jemtrud and Maycee Copeland with 10 each, Tylie Johnson with 8, Brenna Wenger and Karley Jemtrud with 5 each, Hannah Warta and Taya Niemitalo with 3 each, and Annie Roise with 1.
Annie Roise had 2.5 blocks, followed by Brenna Wenger and Maycee Copeland with 1.5 each, and Taya Niemitalo, Dani Hermanson and Karley Jemtrud with .5 each.

Stanley vs. Berthold
At home on Thursday, Sept. 11, the Blue Jays hosted the Berthold Bombers. Stanley took the first set with a score of 25-17 and followed that up with wins of 25-23 and 25-20 to seal the straight set win.
Maycee Copeland led the team with 15 assists, followed by Tylie Johnson with 12.
Dani Hermanson had 8 kills, followed by Karley Jemtrud and Maycee Copeland with 6 each, Brenna Wenger with 5, Annie Roise with 4, and Taya Niemitalo, Khloe Jemtrud, McKenzie Bohrer and Tylie Johnson with 1 each.

McKenna Jones had 18 digs, followed by Tylie Johnson and Maycee Copeland with 13 each, Khloe Jemtrud with 7, Dani Hermanson with 5, Karley Jemtrud and Annie Roise with 4 each, and Taya Niemitalo and Brenna Wenger with 3 each.

Glenburn Tournament
The Blue Jays wrapped up their week in action at the Glenburn Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 13, coming home with third place.
In pool play they met up with Glenburn, splitting the match with scores of 21-25 and 25-13. They faced South Border next, winning with scores of 25-17 and 25-20. In their third match, they split with Powers Lake with scores of 23-25 and 25-20. They lost their final pool play match to Benson County with scores of 19-25 and 22-25.
In tournament play, they defeated Bishop Ryan with scores of 25-17 and 25-22, but then lost to Benson County again with scores of 13-25 and 22-25. In their third place match, they won with scores of 24-26, 25-14 and 15-6 over Westhope.
Individual stats for the Blue Jays for the tournament were as follows:

Maycee Copeland had 14 kills, 59 digs, 4 aces, 1 block and 100 assists.
Annie Roise had 27 kills, 11 digs, 6 aces, 5.5 blocks and 1 assist.
Payton Lystad had 5 kills, 1 dig, .5 blocks and 1 assist.
Up Next: After hosting Nedrose on Tuesday, Sept. 16, the Blue Jay volleyball starts a two week road stint when they travel to Bottineau of Thursday, Sept. 18 with A, B and C squads set to play starting at 5:00 p.m.
