Volleyball Team Wins Home Opener, Glenburn Tourney
Stanley’s varsity volleyball team opened regular season play at home on Tuesday, Sept. 8 when they hosted the Ray Jays. The Blue Jays won the match in straight sets with scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-22.
Individually stats for the Blue Jays were as follows:
Khloe Jemtrud had 1 kill, 1 ace, 17 digs, .5 block and 1 assist.
Taya Niemitalo had 4 kills and 1 dig.
Karley Jemtrud had 1 kill, 1 ace and 5 digs.
Brenna Wenger had 7 kills, 1 ace, 1 dig, 1 block and 1 assist.
Dani Hermanson had 13 kills, 1 ace, 11 digs and 1 assist.
McKenzie Bohrer had 4 digs.
Payton Lystad had 4 kills and 1 dig.
Maycee Copeland had 2 kills, 10 digs and 30 assists.
Annie Roise had 7 kills, 2 aces, 2.5 blocks and 1 assist.

Glenburn Tournament
The Blue Jays were in action at the Glenburn Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 12, coming home with the title.
They won their first match in pool play with Tioga with scores of 25-13 and 25-25. They split the next match with Glenburn, losing the first set with a score of 24-25 but coming back to win the second set 25 to 20. They posted the win over Newburg in the last match of pool play with scores of 25-8 and 25-24. To open tournament play, they defeated Killdeer with scores of 25-13 and 25-9. Facing TGU in semifinals, they won with scores of 25-6 and 25-13. In the championship against Kenmare, they won with scores of 25-23 and 25-19 to take the title.
