Stanley Hosts Region Track

Weather conditions last week caused the Northwest Region Track Meet to be postponed from Friday to Saturday. The date change also meant the meet was moved to the Stanley High School Track.
Athletes were looking for one last chance to qualify for the state track meet, with the top three in each event advancing. Athletes could also qualify by hitting the qualifying marks.
Stanley will be sending 20 athletes to the state meet including those who qualified and alternates. On the girls’ side, the 4x800 relay qualified with members Annie Roise, Jessy Roise, Evy Davis, Teigan Moe, Hadley Reum and Italia Rodriguez. Individually, Payton Lystad will compete in pole vault, and Keilana Uran and Jessa Longmuir will compete in the 100 hurdles. On the boys’ side, the 4x100 relay, 4x200 relay and 4x400 relay have all qualified with members Oscar Garcia, Kolton Longmuir, Logan Longmuir and Zeke Wienbar, Austin Kanenwisher, Cooper Rismon, Alex Salgado and Larson Fjeldahl. Individually, Landon Goettle and Hugh Jackson will compete in pole vault; Ben Hynek in shot put and discus; Oscar Garcia in the 300 hurdles; Zeke Wienbar in the 200 and 400 meter; and Austin Kanenwisher in the 110 hurdles. A send-off for the Blue Jays will be on Thursday, May 21 at 8:45 a.m.
Parshall has qualified Mahki Packineau and Logan Hoff in the 110 hurdles; Haydyn Chase in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs; and Leah Newman in the 100 and 200 meters.
Lewis & Clark NSP has qualified Harper Mortensen in the shot put.
New Town has qualified their 4x400 relay with Treyvionne Williams, Louden Haugen, Jemaul Williams and Tekoah Hood and their 4x800 relay with CJ Freeman, Lukas Spotted Bear, Tekoah Hood and Kade Lambert. Individually, Kade Lambert, Lukas Spotted Bear and CJ Freeman will compete in the 800 meter; CJ Freeman, Lukas Spotted Bear, Kade Lambert and Tekoah Hood in the 1600 meter; and CJ Freeman, Lukas Spotted Bear, Tekoah Hood and Kade Lambert in the 3200 meter.
On the boys’ side, Stanley took home the team title with 113 points, followed by DLB/L&C with 86, Powers Lake-Burke Central with 83, Williams County with 70 and Kenmare-Bowbells and New Town tied with 54 to round out the top five. Parshall was 11th with 29 points and Lewis and Clark NSP was 17th with 3.
On the girls’ side, DLB/L&C was first with 125 team points, followed by Nedrose with 114.5, Divide County with 72, Kenmare-Bowbells with 67.5, and Bishop Ryan rounding out the top five with 58. Stanley was 7th with 45.5 points; Parshall, 9th with 35; Lewis and Clark NSP, 13th with 20.5; and New Town, 15th with 8.

100 meters: David Eberle of Max-South Prairie was first with a time of 11.29. Stanley’s Zeke Wienbar was 6th with 11.66; Kolton Longmuir, 7th with 11.78; Cooper Rismon, 29th with 12.94; and Thosten Lidstrom, 33rd with 13.21. Parshall’s Easton Locken was 17th with 12.48; and Kaidis LongTimeSleeping, 25th with 12.83. Plaza’s Cayson Fyllesvold was 44th with 13.68; and Stephen Mitchell, 46th with 13.86.

State Track Meet
The Class A and B State Track Meet will be held Thursday, May 21 through Saturday, May 23 at the Community Bowl at Bismarck State College.
Thursday’s events will start with opening ceremonies at 2:45 p.m. and the national anthem. Field events will start at 3:00 p.m. while track events will start at 4:30 p.m. Friday starts with the national anthem at 9:00 a.m. Field events will start at 9:30 a.m. while track events will start at 10:15 a.m. Saturday starts with the national anthem at 9:15 a.m. Field events start at 9:30 a.m. and track events start at 11:00 a.m.
