Cross Country Runners Open Season In Killdeer

The Killdeer Early Bird cross country meet was held on Friday, Aug. 22 at the new Killdeer Rodeo Arena with competitions in varsity and sixth grade.
In the varsity boys’ 3,000 meter race, Bowman County was first as a team with a score of 33, followed by New Town with 86, Trinity Christian with 118, Killdeer with 146, and Glen Ullin/Hebron rounding out the top five with 146. Stanley was fifteenth with a team score of 453.
Individually, Jonah Njos of Bowman County was first with a time of 9:52.00. New Town’s Kade Lambert was 5th with 10:22.00; Lukas Spotted Bear, 7th with 10:58.00; Louden Haugen, 13th with 11:25.00; Brycen Bell, 25th with 12:06.50; Canden Cummings, 36th with 12:33.00; Tracy Lyson, 43rd with 12:43.50; Shylo Baker, 44th with 12:45.00; Wyatt Baker, 55th with 13:04.00; Sean Lyson, 65th with 13:46.00; Dane Young Bird, 69th with 13:51.00; Jameson Irwin, 76th with 14:16.00; Greyson Lugar, 91st with 15:08.00; Rising Eagle Heart, 92nd with 15:13.00; Andres Villafuerte, 93rd with 15:18.00; and Kaiden Cooper, 108th with 17:07.00. Stanley’s Payton Harper was 46th with a time of 12:46.00; and Jason White, 56th with 13:04.50.
In the boys’ 1600 meter 6th grade race, Stanley’s Jaxton Cossette was first with a time of 6:16.00 and Marshall Fjeldahl was second with 6:19.00.
In the varsity girls’ 3,000 meter race, Bowman County was first with a score of 30 as a team, followed by Killdeer with 51, Dickinson Trinity with 103, New Town with 127 and Stanley rounding out the top five with 151.
Individually, Summer Olson of Killdeer was first with a time of 12:05. Stanley’s Annie Roise was 14th with 13:58; Jessy Roise, 18th with 14.16; Hadley Reum, 26th with 14:41; Teigan Moe, 32nd with 15:01; Kaylynn Jones, 61st with 17:21; Mya Anderson, 63rd with 17:41; and Corra Parkinson, 74th with 21:59. New Town’s Eva Knight was 17th with 14:14; Tori Hale, 19th with 14:21; Cedar Fitzsimons, 20th with 14:21.10; Adriene Johnson, 35th with 15:11; Parker LeBeau, 36th with 15:12; Inaani Wilson, 60th with 17:12; Marley Danks, 64th with 17:49; Starla McIntosh, 65th with 17:51; Shaya Heart, 67th with 18:31; and Ilse Rojas, 72nd with 20:56.
In the girls’ 1600 meter 6th grade race, Stanley’s Henzlie Longmuir was first with a time of 7:04.00 Charley Reum, 2nd with 7:04.50; and Holly Schow, 3rd with 8:42.00.
Up Next: The Blue Jays are set to run at the Bowman County Invite on Friday, Aug. 29 and then will host their Labor Day Meet at the Prairie Rose Golf Course in Stanley on Tuesday, Sept. 2 starting at 12:00 noon.
