Blue Jay Boys Team Drops Two

Stanley’s varsity boys’ basketball team had two games on their schedule last week. On Thursday, Jan. 15, they traveled to Nedrose, losing the game by a score of 41 to 56. On Saturday, Jan. 17, they hosted number five ranked Beulah, dropping this game by a score of 21 to 94.

The Blue Jay boys met up with the Nedrose Cardinals on the road on Thursday, Jan. 15. The Cardinals got out to a good start, holding a 29 to 14 lead at the end of the first half. The Blue Jays had a strong 23 point third quarter to cut the deficit to four, but then got outscored in the fourth quarter to drop the game with a score of 56 to 41.
Jevon Johnson led the team with 12 points, followed by Ashton Peterson with 11, Landon Goettle with 6, Landon Hunting with 5, Zeke Wienbar with 4 and Henry Sorenson with 3.

Stanley vs. Beulah
The Blue Jays hosted the number five ranked Beulah in afternoon action on Saturday, Jan. 17. This game belonged to the Miners from the start as they put up 48 first half points, compared to 9 for the Blue Jays. Beulah claimed the victory with a score of 94 to 21.
Jevon Johnson led the team with 7 points, followed by Austin Kanenwisher and Ashton Peterson with 6 each, and Henry Sorenson with 2.

Up Next: The Blue Jays are on the road this week as they are in action at the Devils Lake Shootout on Friday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 24. They will host Hazen on Tuesday, Jan. 27 with A and B squads set to play.
