VHA Hosts Appreciation Supper And Dance

By Erika Littlefield, MCP Intern
On Saturday, June 21st, the Van Hook association hosted a special appreciation supper to honor the donors and volunteers who played a role in the creation of the Pavilion project.
The Pavilion Point, named through a contest last summer, has come a long way over the past few years. What started as an idea, beginning with the picnic shelter, followed by the multipurpose and gathering area, finishing with the playground equipment, and most recently, the addition of artificial grass surrounding the playground.
The appreciation event was a heartfelt thank you to those who contributed time, money, and support to make the pavilion project happen. VHA Chairman Steven Littlefield expressed his gratitude, saying, “Without the help of these donors and volunteers, the idea of a place for large events and gatherings would not have become a reality. Our association greatly appreciates everyone’s support for the project.”
Following the supper, a community dance took place, open to all. The band “Too Old to Stand” kept the crowd entertained, playing songs across the decades, including different genres. The evening was filled with dancing, laughter, and shared memories. Littlefield stated, “It was great to see people using the facility.” Becky Nelson says, “The event was such a huge success that the Association would like to make it an annual event.”
Since its formation in 1983, the Van Hook Association has worked closely with the Mountrail County Park Board to enhance Traynor/Van Hook Park. The association raises funds for various improvement projects, such as the pavilion, and once completed, the project ownership is released to the park board for continued management. The VHA is always seeking new members and volunteers.
