Student Numbers Drop
Student numbers are down this year as classes opened in Stanley Schools. Sitting at 767 on Friday, Sept. 4, figures are down 19 from last year. First day numbers were at 777 but there may have been families that have moved and those lowered numbers are now accounted for with the September 4 figures.
First day numbers had continued a small increase the past few years until this year. Last year’s enrollment figures on August 29 sat at 786.
This year’s enrollment numbers as of Friday, Sept. 4, were 767, with 449 students in the elementary school and 318 at the high school. That compares to 448 students in the elementary school and 338 at the high school last year.
This year’s starting number ends the trend of being the highest starting number in Stanley Schools. Numbers were at 786 on August 29 for the 2025/2026 school year, 779 on August 30 for the 2024/2025 school year, 776 on September 1 for the 2023/2024 school year, 758 on September 2 for the 2022/2023 school year, 745 on September 1 for the 2021/2022 school year, and 720 on September 4 in the 2020/2021 school year.
Compare that to 423 at the start of the 2009/2010, 395 at the start of 2008/2009, 364 in 2007/2008 and 347 in 2006/2007.
Student numbers in 2000 showed 429 students at the start of the year, those numbers declined slowly each year to a low of 340 in 2005 before they began the upward climb.
To accurately compare student increases, you need to compare class to class, meaning that you would look at the Kindergarten class from the 2023/2024 school year and follow their numbers to the first grade class for 2024/2025 and the second grade class for 2025/2026 and so forth.
All enrollment figures listed below are based on September numbers for the previous year.
