Street Projects Continue In Stanley

Street Projects Continue In Stanley

Work on the capital improvement project phase three began last week.
After completing the first and second phases of the city’s capital improvement plan, Stanley City Council has begun work on this third phase that continues to address infrastructure in some of the older parts of this city.
This plan would again take on three main aspects: reconstructing streets, and replacing water and sanitary sewer main. This third phase tackles more of the blocks that were originally part of an overall larger project before being scaled down to deal with phase one first.
The city is looking at the project to again address infrastructure that is 50 to 70 years old and is failing. There have been water main breaks, as well as collapsing sewer mains and sewer backups in this area. The streets have been identified as in poor to failing condition with poor drainage.
The project would provide some necessary improvements to older historical neighborhoods with infrastructure that is 50 to 70 years old in the southeast portion of the city.
Work began on the west portion of 3rd Avenue with the sanitary sewer portion of the project.
