Stanley Students Attend FBLA National Conference

Students from Stanley High School competed at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference (NLC) in San Antonio, Texas, from June 29 to July 2. The event attracted more than 18,000 middle school and high school students, educators, and volunteers from across the country. The National Leadership Conference provides students with opportunities to compete, learn, and network while developing valuable business and leadership skills.
The highlight of the week was watching Stanley’s Middle School Chapter Activities Presentation team advance to the finals and take the stage to receive its fourth-place award. Team members included Arianna Salgado, Reese Mortensen and Zoe Mortensen.
Stanley also competed in the following events: Accounting, Jozey Sorenson; Broadcast Journalism, Erika Littlefield and Elizabeth Nelson; Business Ethics, Jacob Altamirano; Business Plan, Payton Lystad; Exploring Professionalism, Charlyn Hannon; Exploring Website Design, Reese Mortensen; Local Chapter Annual Business Report, Payton Lystad and Mya Mortensen; Real Estate, Amanda Dick; Social Media Strategies, Salomeea Simen and Alice Wienbar; Website Design, Kaylee Cotton and Ashley Walter.
Both Stanley’s Middle School and High School FBLA chapters achieved Gold status in the Champion Chapter program and received banners to display at the school. The Champion Chapter program consists of membership recruitment and engagement challenges that chapters complete throughout the year to earn national recognition. In addition, Reese Mortensen participated in the Parade of Chapters during the Opening Session, where she was recognized as North Dakota’s recipient of the Young Leader Award.
