Stanley FCCLA Giving Tree

The Stanley FCCLA hosted its second annual Christmas Giving Tree. It started last year as they had received a phone call from Robyn Frueh at Sage 52 inquiring if there were some students in need at the school. Around that same time, two FCCLA members, Kylee Collins and Karley Jemtrud shared an idea for a STAR Event project they had to have a giving tree. So, the FCCLA collaborated with Robyn and she put a tree up at her store. The girls contacted the High School counselor to ask about student needs. They worked closely with the counselor and got tags made with gift suggestions and needs. Information was kept confidential as the counselor coded tags, so she would be the one to know names. This project last Christmas got started a little later than we liked but it was a huge success. Stanley community supported in monetary donations as well as shopping for tags. The FCCLA members were able to shop for tags as well, and they have turned it into their annual Christmas party. Last year, they received enough money for the girls to go shopping for tags of the other giving tree that was at Cashwise. Kylee and Karley’s project took them to nationals this past month to Orlando, Florida.
This year was another huge success, thanks to the very generous community! They expanded it to the elementary school. They had two trees, one at Bravera Bank and the other at Sage 52. They received over $3,000 monetary donations. FCCLA chapter members went shopping for several tags. Kylee and Karley headed up the project again this year. FCCLA had a wrapping night. Several gifts were dropped off at Sage 52 and Bravera Bank. With leftover funds they will be able to provide extra funds for students in need for the rest of the year including needs that arise such as a new pair of shoes needed.
The Stanley FCCLA chapter would sincerely like to thank the Stanley Community for their continued support in the Giving Tree.
