Mobile Food Pantry To Make Stops In Area

Mobile Food Pantry To Make Stops In Area

Trucks supplying food will be making stops in the area in September as part of the Great Plains Food Bank Program. The Mobile Food Pantry provides fresh vegetables, fruits, shelf-stable items, meat, bakery items, boxed goods and much more to communities in need. Items are distributed right off the truck by staff and volunteers and delivered directly to people in need.
Distributions are set up as a drive-through where clients are able to stay in their cars and items are placed directly inside their vehicle. All in need of food assistance are welcome to come and receive food at no cost. A short intake form is filled out onsite; no preregistration or referrals required. Clients are welcome to attend whichever distribution site works best for them. They also welcome those who cannot attend to designate someone to pick up for them.
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, there will be two stops. The first stop is in Mandaree at the Water Chief Hall parking lot at 105 4th Ave. SW from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The second stop of the day will be at the Northern Lights Community Building, located at 710 East Ave. in New Town from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, Sept. 17 the truck will be in Parshall at North Country Oil, 7258 38th St. NW, starting at 4:00 p.m. until the food is gone.
Established in 2008, the Mobile Food Pantry and Pop-up Perishable Food Program are two programs of the Great Plains Food Bank bringing food and produce into rural communities struggling with access to food assistance.
