Blue Jays Donate To Winter Refuge

The Stanley Blue Jay varsity boys’ basketball team made a stop in Minot on their way to the Devils Lake Shootout last Friday, Jan. 23. The Blue Jays delivered 58 sets of hats and gloves to the Minot Men’s Winter Refuge.
The Blue Jays held a winter hat and gloves drive at their home basketball games on January 9 and 17. Donors were given free popcorn when they donated.
The Men’s Winter Refuge is a men’s homeless shelter that serves the entire Minot region. Since their inception in 2013, they have provided shelter, food, clothing, transportation and basic medical care for more than 1,500 individuals.
On their Facebook page, the organization expressed a “huge thank you to coach Kory Anderson and the Blue Jay team members for supporting the Men’s Winter Refuge.”
Coach Kory Anderson said, “We started our trip to Devils Lake to take on top ranked Four Winds and powerhouse Grafton by stopping by the Minot Men’s Winter Refuge to drop off winter hats and gloves. It was a great opportunity for our boys to see that their influence can be bigger than a game and that it is more important to win in life than on a court, although we keep working hard to win at both!”
