Arneson Hired As New Auditor

Stanley’s City Council met in special session on Wednesday, May 28 with just one item on their agenda, the hiring of a new city auditor. With former auditor Allyn Sveen having resigned in April, the council has been looking to fill the opening.
The employment committee met the previous week and interviewed three candidates for the auditor position. After interviews and discussion, the committee recommended offering the position to Ada Arneson at a salary of $85,000 per year with an increase of $5,000 once she completes the state required auditor training. The council moved to hire Arneson and then to open the deputy auditor position.
Arneson has been in the position of deputy auditor since June of 2013 and has served as the interim auditor since the resignation of Sveen.
She started in that position as then outgoing auditor Bev Gleave was retiring and Allyn Sveen was taking over as auditor.
Arneson is a Stanley High School graduate, holding an accounting degree from MSU. She worked at Target Corporation in Minnesota for almost fifteen years before returning to Stanley in 2012 to be closer to her mother. The deputy auditor job opening gave her the opportunity to move back to North Dakota.
For now, Arneson is also being joined in the auditor’s office by Ronica Pederson and Joan Hollekim, who have been pitching in as the city has made the transition after Sveen’s resignation. Jeanette Ranum was hired recently to fill the other open office position at city hall, working with both the city office and the police department.
