4-H Achievement Days Are Next Week

Mountrail County 4-H youth and their families have been busy preparing for the Mountrail County 4-H Achievement Days this year. Events are scheduled for Monday, July 7, Wednesday, July 9 and Thursday, July 10 at the Fair Building and South Complex in Stanley. They are located at 8101 61st St. NW, ½ mile south of Stanley on Highway 8.
Achievement Days provide the 4-H’ers and opportunity to showcase their work over the 4-H year and get ready for the State Fair competitions. Set up for 4-H’ers starts on Monday, July 7. Interview Judging for static exhibits was moved to Monday to make it easier for youth that are doing both static and livestock exhibits. Judging will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the South Complex while event set-up is underway at the same time. The static exhibit displays will be set up following the judging.
Wednesday morning starts early with the arrival of the livestock exhibits and the static exhibits will be open for public viewing starting at 8:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. Registration runs from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. for poultry and rabbits with the poultry and rabbit show set to start at 10:00 a.m.
Livestock Record Book Judging starts at 2:30 p.m. and runs through 5:00 p.m.
Goat registration is from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Beef, dairy, sheep and swine check-in and market animal weigh-in runs from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The goat show is set to start at 6:00 p.m.

At 3:15 p.m. a Premier Preview Show is scheduled. This is an opportunity for youth in the community to have a chance to see what it is like to show a livestock project with the aid of 4-H’ers. This show is open to all youth ages 8 and under. The Mountrail County Fair Association sponsors medallions to be awarded to all the youth participating in the Premier Preview Show. They encourage all youth to take part in this event to try their hand at livestock showmanship.
The Parade of Champions is set for 4:00 p.m. At this time the Mountrail County Honor Court will be announced followed by all the grand and reserve champions in both the livestock and static exhibit areas.
The 4-H Buyer Appreciation Supper will start at 5:00 p.m. at the South Complex building. The Premium Sale will follow at 6:30 p.m.
The public is encouraged and invited to take in the Mountrail County 4-H Achievement Days. This gives everyone the opportunity to see what the 4-H program has to offer the youth in the county.
