Early Deadline For the August 6 Paper
As I work on the paper for this week, I’m already getting my mind wrapped around next week. Our printing press is helping out the Garrison printing press next week. In order to make that happen, we are changing up our own printing schedule some.
The seven papers that print at Greater Northwest Publishing are moving our printing schedules up a bit so that we are done when Bob and the crew need to start on the papers that Garrison usually prints.
Our deadline is traditionally noon on Monday, but we have made some allowances for things that come in a little later in the day. When we leave on Monday the paper is ready to go to the press with the exception of final spell checks and corrections. We come in on Tuesday morning to finish those things and then we start uploading our paper and mailing labels to the plant.
To help us meet our deadline for the August 6 paper, we would appreciate having everything in by end of business on Friday, Aug. 1 if possible. Otherwise, we are going to have to hold a hard line on that noon on Monday deadline. Anything that comes in after that will have to wait until the next week. I’ll be spending more time than usual over the weekend on my own work to make sure that things go smoothly. We need to upload our pages by 5:00 p.m. on Monday rather than Tuesday morning. In order to meet that, the work we usually do on Tuesday will be done starting by 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
It may be a little inconvenient for those of us that usually print at GNWP, but it is also important that we help the Garrison plant. We have helped them in the past and they have helped us, sometimes when one or the other is short on workers or if one of us is having issues with any part of the printing process. There are so few printing plants left that have the ability to work together to help each other out. It is much more important than a little inconvenience of being done earlier than usual.
