Just My Opinion - by Mary Kilen

Always A Great Time!
It was our turn for Easter and this time Mother Nature cooperated for the most part. That meant that Amanda, Zach, Carter, Jozie and Abel made it to Stanley for the holiday. We even got a little extra time since they showed up on Friday afternoon. Abel decided he wanted to wrestle in the Stanley Pee Wee Tournament so that I could watch him wrestle. He did really well, winning his first two and coming up just short in his third match.
Saturday started out with games in the morning, lunch at Joyce’s, a trip to Dakota Drug for Whirla Whips, and then another game in the afternoon. We have a pile of board games at our house that have grown over the years. We’ve bought new ones as the kids get older and now they’re starting to play games like Clue and Life so that they take a little longer and are a little more challenging for us as well.
Saturday evening brought some Easter egg dying. I had bought two different kits and Amanda brought along their egg-mazing coloring set. The kids were having a great time dying and coloring the eggs. There were some creative add-ons including gloss, paint and lava making. Amanda is likely still regretting her decision to use the gold foil sheet on one of the eggs. Turns out that getting enough glue on the egg and the foil sheet to make it transfer leaves more of the glue and the foil on you than on the egg.
Sunday included Easter baskets and an Easter egg hunt before we sat down for a big lunch together.
They ended up leaving around 2:00 and Dale and I just sat there looking at each other wondering where the time went so quickly. We were also a bit tired, so we both decided that any work we had to do could wait until Monday.
Meanwhile, poor Buddy took an extended nap. Between playing with the kids and getting a couple of chances to play with the bigger dogs, he was exhausted. Normally, he will take an afternoon nap, but he spent most of the afternoon and evening just laying around. When it came to bedtime, he laid down right away and I don’t think he moved all night.
We are so blessed to be able to spend time with our family. There is nothing better for the soul than those hours spent together.

What Is Butt Dust?
This one popped up on my Facebook a few weeks ago and after what was likely family time for many of our readers, it seemed right to share it this week. As the saying goes, “out of the mouths of babes”.
What, you ask, is ‘Butt dust’? What do you do or say, when an innocent child asks you something so innocent and they are so serious? Read on and you’ll discover the joy in it! These have to be original and genuine. No adult is this creative!!
MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so old she didn’t remember any more. Melanie said, ‘If you don’t remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six.’
STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom good night. ‘I love you so much that when you die I’m going to bury you outside my bedroom window.’
BRITTANY (age 4) had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a child-proof cap and she’d have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: ‘How does it know it’s me?’
SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. ‘Please don’t give me this juice again,’ she said, ‘It makes my teeth cough.’
DJ (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: ‘How much do I cost?’
CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried. When his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, ‘I don’t know what’ll happen with this bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in it?’
MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: ‘Why is he whispering in her mouth?’
TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, ‘Why doesn’t your skin fit your face?’
JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: ‘The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.’ Concerned, James asked: ‘What happened to the flea?’
The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget....
This particular Sunday sermon... ‘Dear Lord,’ the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. ‘Without you, we are but dust....’ He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old girl voice, ‘Mom, what is butt dust?’
Make sure you pass this one on and spread the smiles.
